Merry-Go-Round

And so the wind blows
The memories away
Smiles and laughs
Words and love
Forgotten in the eyes
Of some and held
In the hearts of others forever

Frost bites your nose
And waters your eyes
Tear drops fall upon the ice
Glazed grass
A second of melted green
Dusted white all over again

Tired of making castles in the snow
Search for greener grass
Flee this land
You already know

Arms stretched wide to catch the sun
Singed finger tips and wide eyes
The wind wills gently
For your return
You push past
And plunge
Into the pool of light that strangles
Your throat
Dries up your tongue
Crack by crack you step closer
Only to glance over your shoulder
At what once was
To spit upon the glistening streets

Yet now the ice has melted
Wind settled soft
Lands awash with colour
Fields of peridot
By now you've fallen
Into the fiery claws of the sun
Scolding your skin and blistering your eyes

And so you wish to return to the white? The ice?
To soothe your burns
Cool your thoughts

The wind begins to sing its song
For you to find where you belong
Only now you strive and pine to know
The life and love the snow can show.
